BANK OF QUEENSLAND MASTERS 2008
CitiBeach Volleyball hosted the Bank of Queensland Masters beach volleyball tournament on 2-3 August. 42 teams contested a total of 116 games, with competitor ages ranging from 30 to 60. Grades are determined by the combined ages of the team participants, with age divisions in Mens pairs, Ladies pairs and Mixed 3-a-side.
OUR NEW SEASON IS UNDERWAY
There's always a social competition underway or about to start. Grand Finals for our current season were on SATURDAY 13TH JUNE. A new season started on MONDAY 15TH JUNE. GRAND FINALS - SUMMER 2008-09 SEASON
Saturday 14th February was the night for our most recent Grand Finals. What a tough season it was! Record rainfalls, a power outage affecting all of North Qld, then more torrential rain in the week of our semi-finals. Fortunately, Grand Finals night stayed fine to allow teams to enjoy a night of competitive, fun volleyball. PHOTOS WILL BE POSTED IN A FEW DAYS.
CITIBEACH CHALLENGE 2009
We have had 3 major tournaments this year, the 11th year of the CITIBEACH CHALLENGE. This is a series with 9 grades, played over 2 days, with a level appropriate for both elite and social players. Round 1 was in ROCKHAMPTON AT EASTER, Round 2 in CAIRNS AT MAY DAY WEEKEND, and Round 3 in TOWNSVILLE IN JUNE, Queens Birthday weekend. Each event caters to over 100 competitors, including a FREE PRESENTATION DINNER.

It's getting close again - Saturday and Sunday 1-2 August. Nominations close 21 July so DON'T LEAVE IT TOO LATE TO NOMINATE. This year we've added another grade in response to popular demand.
KING AND QUEEN OF THE BEACH 2009
Sunday 15th March was the day of our annual King and Queen of the Beach tournament in Townsville. This year we had a full field of 16 players in each division and it made for a day of top-quality volleyball. Our eventual winners were Luke Laming and Kate Donohoe. Congratulations to them and to all the players for the spirit in which they played a very enjoyable tournament.
AUST MASTERS BEACH TITLES 2009
The Australian Masters Beach Volleyball Championships were held for 2009 at Geelong in the last week of February. It is held every second year, as part of the Australian Masters Games.
NATIONAL JUNIOR TITLES 2006 - TOWNSVILLE GIRLS WIN!
Emma Spiegelhauer and Kirra Huddy, from CitiBeach Townsville, were undefeated in winning the National Junior Beach Volleyball Title for 2006 in the Under-17 Girls division.

Mel Robinson has been an enthusiastic supporter at CitiBeach Townsville for the last year while her partner Mike Hill plays for Crustys on Monday nights. But things are changing.....
PHOTOGRAPHERS CONTEST
Have YOUR WORK ON THE BACK OF A BUS. In October CitiBeach Volleyball will be placing an ad on the back of a Sunbus. We want it to be a stunner, and invite keen photographers, designers to submit an original photo and slogan. We will make a contest of it by awarding a $100 restaurant voucher to the best submitted entry. Conditions........
KEEPING IN TOUCH
Over the years we have had a number of players and staff who have been great to know as people as well as volleyballers. Some have moved on to careers and study which have taken them not only away from Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, but in many cases overseas. We would love to hear from you.
STAFF WANTED
Canteen staff and umpires are required for evening work on a part-time but regular basis, for our Townsville centre. No experience needed, but a friendly, outgoing manner is important. Training will take about 2 weeks..See our ad....
